Celtic Collection is the 1999 compilation by Clannad, an Irish folk-pop group that recorded their first album back in 1973. Their music features wonderful harmonies sung in the Irish dialect and the . They are pioneers of a sort, their music gaining worldwide interest for Irish folk music and culture in the early 80’s when some of their songs were used in popular films.

This release may be over a decade old, but features some of their best songs, ranging from the ethereal Caislean Oir to the tribal Croi Croga, the questing Robin (The Hooded Man) to the jazzy Seanchas. My personal favorite of all the songs is A Mhuirnin O, a song that reminds me of a cross between Fleetwood Mac and Mike Oldfield. A Mhuirnin O is one of the more energetic tunes on the compilation, but each song plonks the listener smack in the middle of some tale. Even if you don’t listen to a lot of folk music, there is likely to be some song on the album that you’ll appreciate, making it a worthy addition to any music collection.

This album can be purchased wherever good music is sold.
