Music Podcast Review: KEXP Song of the Day

I love discovering new music. Thankfully, there has been an upsurge in the number of high quality music podcasts out there giving me the chance to hear a wide variety of different sounds from across the globe. The focus in this entry is on one of a few decent podcasts that I have discovered in the last few days: KEXP Song of the Day.

As the name implies, you get a new track each new episode. There are a number of music podcasts that have audio commentary, but KEXP Song of the Day cuts it out completely.  This saves you time and gives a streamline listening experience, perfect for putting into your iTunes smart playlist. The selection is expansive offering music from a host of different styles and genres. You will find releases from artists all over the globe, both known and unknown. I spent a bit of time looking at the music I have already downloaded via the podcast and already seen a few familiar faces, such as Harvey Danger, Midlake, Moby, Flight of the Conchords (comedy duo from New Zealand), The Dodos, Neko Case, Port O’Brien and Dan Mangan. Overall, this podcast is a great listen for anyone up to the mid-forties with limited time to sort through music online and just want to listen to some high quality tunes.

You can find a full list of the releases so far here. Visit the KEXP Podcast page to discover how to download this program as well as others.
