As some of you are already aware, I try to watch Eurovision every year. In 2008, I missed most of the finals, but have been slowly watching them on Youtube. Some performances are better than others, while there are a few that are performed in an entirely different language from the CD compilation, such as in the case of 2008 Slovenian representative, Rebeka Dremeji. The original version is in Slovenian, and I particularly enjoyed in. What I didn’t expect from the video on Youtube, was that she performed the song in English at the finals. I was pleasantly surprised, because the performance actually sounded quite good. I know that might sound strange, but I’ve heard English versions of songs by the likes of Shakira and the songs didn’t match up to the originals. Rebeka Dremeji is a reminder that some artists are up to the challenge.
